What we sell

Stone is the one material on a project that can’t be patched, painted or swapped out later. It gets placed once and stays visible for the life of the build.

Everything below comes off our own ground. That matters more than it sounds: a broker sells you whatever the quarry happened to run that week, and the next load can be a different color, a different hardness, a different face. When we own the reserve, we can hold a run back for a project that needs to stay consistent across several phases instead of selling it out from under you.

Every product is on display at Greystone, our retail yard, laid out the way it would actually be used. You can see it, compare it, and put your hands on it before anything gets specified. Bulk orders through Northshore start at sixty tons; anything smaller is handled at Greystone.

Feature boulders

Single-stone statements — entry monuments, water features, grade transitions, and the anchor of a planting bed. These are chosen individually rather than ordered off a size list, because the reason to buy one is the specific color break or face it happens to have.

Anything above about three feet needs equipment to place. We haul on our own trucks and set with our own operators, so the stone arrives and goes in the ground the same day rather than sitting on a pad waiting for a crane.

Some of them stop being landscape and become architecture. The stone above was set at the entry of an estate home and plumbed as a water feature — chosen for that spot, not ordered off a size list.

Landscape rock

The working size for most residential, estate and resort landscape plans: accents, bed edging, slope stabilisation, and grouped placements that read as though the stone was always there.

Sorted by color and face as well as size, so a run stays consistent across an entire property. On multi-phase work this is the thing that goes wrong most often with other suppliers — phase four arrives and doesn’t match phase one.

The terracing above is a single property: boulder retaining holding the grade, gravel beds worked around it, and the whole run pulled to match. It’s the difference between stone that looks placed and stone that looks like it was always there.

Retaining stone

Stone selected and staged for retaining walls. We pull it so a wall gets built out of one quarry run rather than three — which is the difference between a wall that reads intentional and one that looks assembled from leftovers.

For structural walls, the stone is only part of it. Drainage behind the wall and the batter it’s laid at determine whether it’s standing in twenty years. We’ll supply to an engineer’s detail, and on our own excavation projects we set the wall as well.

Decorative rock

Rounded and angular decorative product for dry creek beds, erosion control, and ground cover, sold by the ton.

Color runs vary by pull, so for anything where appearance matters we’ll show you the current material rather than a photograph of last season’s. Everything sits separated in its own bin at Greystone, so you can compare products side by side instead of imagining the difference.

Bulk aggregate

Road base, drain rock, washed sand, structural fill and rip rap — delivered by the load or scheduled against a construction calendar across a whole phase.

Consistency across a project matters more than any single delivery. Base that compacts differently from one lift to the next causes problems that show up long after the trucks have gone, so we hold material back for jobs that need it rather than running a pile down and substituting.

On scheduled work we run our own trucks against the construction calendar, so material lands as the grade is ready for it rather than stockpiling in the way.

Rough numbers

Useful for early budgeting. Stone density and boulder shape vary, so treat these as approximations rather than takeoffs.

For ground cover, one ton of decorative gravel spreads roughly 100 square feet at two inches deep, or about 70 square feet at three inches. Coverage drops as stone size increases.

Color, face and weathering vary across a quarry, and photographs don’t settle that. Stone has to be seen in daylight, at size, next to the other material going on the job.

Greystone is our yard — the retail side of the business — where the full range is laid out the way it would actually be used, rather than stacked in a working pit. Bring your landscape architect or your client, compare material in daylight, and take the time to get it right.

Every product sits in its own bin on a clean, paved yard — walk the row, see each one separated and at size, and put your hands on it. It’s also where orders under sixty tons are handled, so a single-project quantity gets the same material off the same reserve.

Common questions

Ordering

Do you deliver?

Yes. We run our own trucks and deliver throughout Northern Utah — the Ogden, Cache and Salt Lake valleys, and Wasatch County. Delivery beyond that depends on volume; a full construction schedule travels further economically than a single load.

Is there a minimum order?

Sixty tons. Below that the freight stops making sense on our equipment, and you’re better served by Greystone — our retail yard is set up for smaller quantities and single-project orders, with the same material off the same reserve.

Can I see the material before I commit?

Yes, and we’d rather you did. Every product is on display at Greystone. For large boulder or retaining stone orders we’ll walk the material with you and your landscape architect.

Can you match stone on an existing wall or a previous phase?

Usually, and this is the main reason to buy from a supplier who owns the source. We can hold a color run back for a project running across multiple phases. Bring a sample or a photograph of what’s already in the ground and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can match it.

Do you set boulders, or only deliver them?

Both. Feature boulders are hauled on our own equipment and set by our operators to the placement the landscape architect drew. On projects where we’re also doing the excavation, wall setting is part of the scope.

How do I work out how much I need?

Send the plan or the area and depth and we’ll take it off for you. The rough numbers above are fine for early budgeting, but stone density and coverage vary enough that a real takeoff is worth doing before you order.
